How the service button works
The outside button is normally enabled by a timer or controller during authorised hours. Outside those hours it should not release the door. The exact schedule is chosen for the building rather than set by a Scotland-wide rule.
02
Common faults
The button may stop working, remain active all day, operate at the wrong time or become intermittent. The cause may be the button, timer, relay, power supply, cabling or the door release itself.
- Button never releases the door
- Door opens from the button at all times
- Times drift after a power interruption
- Timer works but the lock does not release

Who can authorise a change?
Changing access hours affects the security of the whole entrance. We normally need instruction from the factor, landlord, building owner or authorised residents’ committee before altering the schedule.
04
What to send
Provide the address postcode, current operating times, the expected times, whether the resident handsets still release the door and photographs of the panel and any visible timer or controller label.
